Akwa Ibom Collaborates With Singapore Company To Establish $100m Rice Farm

In order to reduce inflation and boost food security, the Akwa Ibom State Government has partnered with a Singapore based investment organisation, Ashdene Group, to set up a $100 million rice farm in the state.

Governor Udom Emmanuel while speaking at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU) in his office in Uyo said the project was part of his administration’s effort to boost the agricultural sector and the economy of the state.

The governor added that the decision to partner with Ashdene Group was because of their competency and being a company that has executed businesses successfully in about twenty-nine countries around the World.

“I commend the company’s decision to set up a rice farm alongside a processing mill at Ini Local Government Area.

“This will also attract road construction and other developments in communities.

“I want to assure you that this is an investor friendly government. Our policies, strategies and focus centres on investments. Be rest assured that the responsibilities of government in the agreement signed would be duly executed,” gov Emmanuel said.
