The rumors circulating weeks ago concerning Nokia’s plan of releasing two flagship Android smartphones have finally been confirmed.
Nokia executive Mike Wang, president of the joint management team in China has confirmed that not just two, but three or four new Nokia-branded Android devices will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2016.
According to The Paper, Mike mentioned that both smartphones and tablets running Android are to be released by the company.
Prior to this new information, some rumors suggested that the two purported smartphones will sport AMOLED display panels with QuadHD resolution.
The devices are allegedly water resistant with IP68 certification and they will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It is also said that Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor will power the smartphones.
The smaller version will have a 5.2-inch screen, while a 5.5-inch screen should be expected for the bigger model.
Although the company might make announcements during fourth quarter of the year, he commented that the unveiling of the devices could take place early 2017.
It all depends on testing and development. Finnish company HMD that purchased part of Nokia’s phone assets from Microsoft will design the devices. Foxconn will manufacture them, but their brand name remains Nokia.
Various leaks of the upcoming devices are expected to flood the internet anytime soon. There are no tangible information on the price tags or specifications of the upcoming smartphones and tablets yet.
